Annual Gender and Child Focal Point Meeting
The Secretariat to the National Commission for Women and Children is currently conducting the Annual Gender and Child Focal Point (GCFP) meeting in Paro, from August 12 to 14, 2024. This important gathering brings together Gender and Child Focal Points from across Dzongkhags, Thromdes, Central agencies, and Civil Society Organizations to collaboratively address key gender and child protection issues in Bhutan.
During the three-day event, participants will delve into discussions on the current state of gender and child protection within the country, present on the Terms of Reference for both the GCFPs and the Dzongkhag/Thromde Women and Child Committees (D/TWCC), and engage in practical training on the Gender Equality Monitoring System (GEMS). Additionally, the meeting will feature sessions on international conventions such as CEDAW and CRC, raise awareness on Trafficking in Persons (TIP), and provide a platform for GCFPs to share their experiences and best practices. The meeting aims to strengthen the capacity of the GCFPs and enhance their roles in advancing gender equality and child protection in the country.
